Project Sustainability in practice : The wind generator is turning again!
on 2008/1/21 16:10:04 (1111 reads)

Yes, we did it again! We made the sun and wind work for us this Saturday on the roof of the Tehnička, industrijska i obrtnička škola (Technical, Industrial and Craft High school) - TIOŠ in Čakovec, Croatia. The small hybrid sun-wind renewable energy generating system was installed and presented to the audience by the GNAG group from Vukomerić, while Kneja from Čakovec was the logistic and the 'right hand' of the workshop.

About thirty people interested in renewable energy sources from different locations from Croatia and Slowenia attendet the workshop and presentation, among also students and teachers from TIOŠ, who will use the energy system to experiment, promote and get better knowledge about sustainable energy sources.

The wind turbine and the photovoltaic equipment were produced in Croatia, by using them we support through the project also the local production of this kind of energy systems.

A big cloud over our heads delayed the instalation of the system with occasional rain, but the workshop was finished right in the romatic sunset over Čakovec. The participants got also tasty local organic and biodynamic grown food and juices, so we tried to make the ecological footprint as small as possible.

As the result, the small wind turbine and photovoltaic module will approximatelly give daily 552,50 Wh of energy, depending on wheater conditions, which is about 200kWh per year, and this will save about 100 kg of CO2 if used as a substitute for energy generated by fossil fuels.

One of the most beautiful moment is when the wind turbine is starting to turn...
This workshop is organized as part of the project “Balkan Ecovillage Network – Sustainability in Practice”, which is being implemented with a grant given through the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe's SECTOR Programme. This programme is funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
